Keto Electrolyte Drink with Apple Cider Vinegar

Keto Electrolyte Drink with Apple Cider Vinegar

Looks like a cocktail but it's not. It's better!

If you're following a low carb or keto lifestyle, you may already pay closer attention to water, salt and mineral-rich foods. This is definitely our favourite electrolyte drink recipe. Not only because it's delicious - but because we've added apple cider vinegar to the mix for that sharp, refreshing kick.

The whole idea of drinking salty water may sound a bit ugh, right? But this mix of lemon juice, sparkling water and apple cider vinegar makes it taste so much better. At least we think so.

What are electrolytes?

Common electrolytes include magnesium, calcium, sodium and potassium. When you are following a low carb or keto lifestyle, your daily food choices may look different from a higher-carb routine, so it can be useful to think about fluids, salt and mineral-containing foods as part of the bigger picture.

That does not mean one drink can do everything. A varied diet, enough water and a routine that works for you matter too. If you feel unwell when changing the way you eat, it is best to speak with a qualified health professional.

There are many delicious food sources and ingredients people often include in low carb routines, like:

    • Himalayan or Sea Salt
    • Nuts
    • Dark Chocolate - like our Funky Fat Chocolates
    • Dark Leafy green veggies
    • Avocado
    • Almond and Coconut Milk

For this recipe, we use Himalayan Salt for its salty flavour and sodium content, plus lemon or lime for brightness. Simple, sharp, refreshing. Nothing boring in the glass.

Why Apple Cider Vinegar?

Apple cider vinegar is not only great on salads but also in a refreshing drink. You may have seen plenty of bold claims about it online, but for this recipe, we are keeping it simple: we use it for flavour.

Its acidity cuts through the salt, works beautifully with lemon or lime, and gives the drink that mocktail feeling without turning it into a full production.

But don't get too excited and start pouring apple cider vinegar on everything. It is acidic, so it is something to use thoughtfully and dilute properly. The most recommended dosage is 1-2 tablespoon per day before or after a meal.

P.S. Other things you could add to this drink is mint, ginger, or rosemary. Whatever you think tastes amazing. Don't be afraid to be creative. Your routine matters but so are your taste buds. If you don't like it, you won't love to drink it every day, right?!

Hello, L. Elvington. Thank you for your comment. It can be difficult to know how much apple cider vinegar to take each day. The quantity can vary depending on the different health benefits you want to achieve, for example, controlling your blood sugar levels or improving your digestion.

I love this and I love the energy I gained from it and the cognitive clarity I felt after drinking it. I don’t know if you answer questions, but I’d like to know if it’s ok to drink this every day.
