Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups

Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups

Some cravings call for chocolate. Others call for peanut butter. This one clearly refused to choose.

Welcome back to Cravings, Covered — our series of bite-sized treats with no added sugar, made with real ingredients and ready for when that after-dinner craving arrives.

This time, we’re making dark chocolate peanut butter cups. A crisp chocolate shell, a creamy peanut butter centre and just three ingredients. No added sugar, no overcomplicated recipe — just really good chocolate and peanut butter.

Are they slightly more fiddly than having a spoonful of peanut butter with a square of chocolate? Yes. Are they worth having ready in the freezer? Also yes.

What you'll need

Not a peanut butter person? Your favourite almond butter works just as well.

How to make dark chocolate peanut butter cups

    1. Melt the chocolate. Gently melt the Funky Fat Dark Chocolate with a little MCT oil until smooth.
    2. Make the chocolate shells. Pour the melted chocolate into your moulds, making sure the bottom and sides are coated. Place them in the freezer for 5 minutes.
    3. Tidy up the edges. Take the moulds out of the freezer and remove any excess chocolate around the edges that hasn’t set where you want it. A little messy is fine — we’re making chocolate, not entering a pastry competition.
    4. Add the filling. Fill each chocolate shell with peanut butter, or use your favourite almond butter instead. We used roughly ½ teaspoon per cup.
    5. Seal with chocolate. Cover the filling with another layer of melted chocolate.
    6. Freeze. Place the cups back in the freezer for at least 30 minutes, or until completely set.

Three ingredients. No added sugar. Craving: covered.

Each little cup uses roughly one square of chocolate with a creamy nut butter centre. Made with real ingredients and no added sugar, they’re easy to prepare ahead and keep in the freezer for whenever you fancy something chocolatey.

Because sometimes being prepared simply means knowing there’s chocolate in the freezer. We fully support that kind of organisation.
